The sports event, which will take place between June 17 and July 2, 2017 in Russia, will have the presence of 120 Santa Rita in the VIP lounges that are inside the stadiums.

Santiago, June 2017.- With only a few days to the start of the Confederations Cup, Santa Rita prepares to be part of this global football event. The number one winery in the Chilean market will be the exclusive international wine at the sporting event in Russia.

With this agreement, Santa Rita will be present with its 120 and Reserva wines, in the hospitality halls of the stadiums in which the Confederations Cup will be held. This means it will be the only international wine (alongside the local Russian wines) that will be available to senior executives of various clubs, leagues and sports federations, including FIFA; members of the various football teams and former players; as well as VIP personalities, press and other people linked to the event.

“This is an excellent opportunity for Chilean wine and for Santa Rita as a company, to expand the reach of our brand and our wines in a long distance market as is Russia. Russia has a tremendous growth potential, and Santa Rita has been present here for more than three decades”, says Jaime de la Barra, Corporate Marketing Manager at Viña Santa Rita.

Santa Rita —currently present in more than 70 countries around the world— is also the official partner of Arsenal FC. In 2016, was awarded “Winery of the Year” by Wines of Chile, and has been recognized as one of ‘The Most Admired Brands’ of the World by Drinks International.

The Russian market

According to ProChile, Russia is one of the countries with the highest per capita consumption of alcohol in the world, led largely by vodka (68%) and beer (22%). Wine consumption is around 5-7 liters per capita per year, maintaining a moderate upward trend for several years.

It is estimated that about 55% of the wine consumed by the Russians is imported. Today Chile consolidates itself as the leading exporter of wine from the New World to Russia and fifth in the world ranking after Italy, France, Spain and Georgia.

So far this year, according to statistics of Wines of Chile, our country has exported 305,483 cases of 9 liters to Russia, which represents a growth of 32.3%. In value, shipments reach US $ 6.6 million, which is equivalent to an increase of 23.4%. In 2016, exports of Chilean bottled wine to Russia totaled US $ 23 million, with 1.1 million cases sold.
