Successful Casa Real vertical tasting in the US
San Francisco was the place where an extended Casa Real vertical tasting was held, led by Santa Rita’s winemaker Sebastián Labbe.

San Francisco, September 2017.- Top buyers, press and members of the trade gathered last week at The Southern Hemisphere Beverage Conference in San Francisco, this year in its third event. The attendees joined in a series of tastings, master classes and explorations into key appellations.

Among the activities, Evan Goldstein MS, Brian Cronin MS together with Santa Rita’s Winemaker Sebastian Labbe, held a Casa Real Vertical Tasting for 100 VIP attendees, being one of the highlights of the Conference. This is the first time that a vintages tasting of Casa Real has been conducted in the West Coast of the US, following a Cabernet Seminar that Santa Rita organized in New York in 2014.

“A vertical tasting of Casa Real, the history of modern Chilean wine, as told through a prism of a great vineyard”, introduced the story behind Santa Rita’s icon wine and its evolution in time through the tasting of eight vintages: 1995, 1998, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. The audience, consistent on some of the most influential buyers and trade members of the US, were highly impressed by Casa Real’s ageing potential, even similar to Bordeaux wines.

From its first vintage in 1989, Casa Real has delivered quality and character, reflecting its distinctive Alto Jahuel terroir in the Maipo Alto region. The wine maintains its high quality level by only being made in exceptional years and of those, only years in which the ageing potential for the wine is greater than 20 years.
