The 2013 Pehuén earned 92 points in Wine Spectator. This is the highest accolade this ultra-premium wine has received in this US magazine. Additionally, the 2015 Medalla Real Carmenere obtained 91 points in this publication.

The 2017 Floresta Carmenere and the 2014 Pehuén were named the “Year’s Best” by Wine & Spirits, with 94 and 93 points, respectively.

Santiago, June 2018. Viña Santa Rita’s Carmeneres have shown brilliantly in major media from the United States, United Kingdom, and Chile, such as Wine Spectator, Wine & Spirits, and Descorchados, as well as in reports by Tim Atkin and James Suckling.

PEHUÉN

The 2013 Pehuén received 92 points in Wine Spectator, the highest score the wine has received in that US magazine. “Elegant, rich and powerful, featuring focused flavours of raspberry, red currant and plum, supported by vibrant acidity. Offers suave tannins, with a finish filled with notes of dried green herbs, chocolate and spice. Need some time in the cellar to flesh out. Best from 2018 through 2022,” commented Wine Spectator editor Kim Marcus.

The 2014 vintage of Pehuén received 93 points in Wine & Spirits, which also named it the “Year’s Best” in the Chilean Cabernet and Carmenere category. Tim Atkin awarded it 92 points, and it earned 94 points in the Descorchados 2018 wine guide.

FLORESTA CARMENERE

The 2017 Floresta Carmenere, the most recent innovation from winemaker Sebastián Labbé, recently received 94 points in Wine & Spirits magazine and was also named the “Year’s Best” in the Chilean Cabernet and Carmenere category.

Chilean wine writer Patricio Tapia recognized this wine as the Best Carmenere from Chile and awarded it 96 points in his Descorchados 2018 wine guide. In addition, in a recent article in Wine & Spirits, he called it one of winemaker Sebastián Labbé’s most outstanding achievements to date.

MEDALLA REAL

The 2015 Medalla Real Gran Reserva Carmenere obtained 91 points in Wine Spectator. “Big and rich, this is filled with well-structured dark plum, currant and black olive flavors. Densely packed spiciness shows mid palate, with a finish of dark chocolate and Asian spice. Drink now through 2022”, commented Wine Spectator editor Kim Marcus.

Additionally, the 2015 Medalla Real Gran Reserva Carmenere received 93 points in March from James Suckling. “The plum, wild berry and herb nose sucks you into this dark fjord of Chilean Carmenere character and doesn’t want to let you go. In spite of the chocolate flavour at the finish, it is so fresh and uplifting. Drink or hold,” commented the influential wine critic.
