Viña Santa Rita named “2016 Winery of the Year” by Wines Of Chile

This recognition, which was presented during the inaugural ceremony of the trade association’s annual Wine Gala, reiterated the winery’s commitment and passion for being an ambassador for Chilean wine around the world, in addition to its good commercial performance and outstanding dedication to sustainability.

Wines of Chile, the Chilean wine industry’s most important trade organization with more than 90 associated wineries, chose Santa Rita as its 2016 Winery of the Year, an important distinction that reflects Santa Rita’s successful year in the domestic and international markets.

During the ceremony, the chairman of Wines of Chile, Mario Pablo Silva, highlighted the commitment and passion of Santa Rita for being a great ambassador for Chilean wine at home and abroad was stressed, as was its dedication to sustainable management in the environmental, social, and economical aspects of the business.

“Santa Rita seeks to strengthen the country image; we want Chile to be recognized in the different markets through its production of high quality wines with their own identity that consumers will recognize and seek out. We work every day so that more people—not only in Chile, but around the world—have a glass of Chilean wine on their dinner tables,” said Viña Santa Rita CEO Andrés Lavados.

Silva also recognized the winery’s significant growth in the sale of premium wines and the various awards and accolades received throughout the year, such as being named Value Brand of the Year” distinction from US magazine Wine & Spirits; the Casa Real Reserva Especial being recognized as the Best Chilean Wine of the 2011 vintage by Wine Enthusiast as well as receiving the title of “Master” from The Drinks Business, and Cerro 94 being awarded the “Revelation Wine” award in the 2016 Descorchados wine guide.

“We want to grow and be a benchmark for Chilean wines in the world, but we want that growth to be based on efficiency, sustainability, and an innovation that is built upon experience and tradition. After persevering in this commitment in recent years, we are now beginning to reap the reward of our efforts, such as receiving the 2016 Most Innovative Wine Business Award from the Universidad de Los Andes,” Lavados concluded.
