With this release, the iconic Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon celebrates 30 vintages of excellence, crafted exclusively in exceptional years.

On September 11, the flagship wine of Viña Santa Rita, Casa Real, launches its new 2022 vintage on La Place de Bordeaux. A wine defined by freshness and classic elegance, which is the result of one of the coolest seasons in Alto Jahuel since 2014.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that this wine is presented through La Place de Bordeaux, the most prestigious fine wine distribution network in the world.

The 2022 release also marks a significant milestone: the production of 30 vintages of this wine since its inaugural harvest in 1989. Three decades of consistency, identity, and global projection, establishing Casa Real as one of the great Cabernet Sauvignons of Alto Jahuel, the Maipo Valley, and the world.

A PIONEER AMONG SOUTH AMERICAN ICONS

Since 1989, Casa Real has established itself as an undisputed benchmark among South America’s finest wines. It remains the only Chilean icon wine made exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon since its inception, representing the purest expression of this noble variety.

Its essence lies in a historic 20-hectare vineyard located in the Carneros Viejo and Población sectors of Alto Jahuel, planted on original rootstock during the 1970s and 1980s. These ungrafted, heritage vines—selected through massal selection—yield fruit of exceptional quality, perfectly capturing the depth and diversity of Chile’s finest terroir for Cabernet Sauvignon.

Thanks to its authenticity and consistent character, Casa Real became the first Latin American wine to be recognised as a Wine Legend by Decanter. Distributed through La Place de Bordeaux since 2021, Casa Real was one of the first five Chilean wines to join this prestigious global distribution network.

A VINTAGE THAT HONOURS THE TERROIR OF ALTO JAHUEL

The 2022 vintage was unusually cool in Alto Jahuel, allowing for a slow and precise ripening. The result is a wine of remarkable concentration, silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and remarkable depth.

“This fresh and vibrant vintage displays a deep ruby colour and pure aromas of blackcurrant, ripe cherries and tobacco, lifted by delicate spicy notes. On the palate, it is complex and structured, with broad, refined tannins that deliver texture and impressive length. It is a vintage of precision, freshness and balance—built on fruit purity and structural solidity—that offers remarkable ageing potential and a timeless expression of Alto Jahuel.”

Casa Real 2022 has already earned critical acclaim. Tim Atkin awarded it 97 points and included it in his 2025 Wines of the Year. Vinous also gave it 97 points, while James Suckling rated it 96 points, praising its restraint and complexity: “This wine pays tribute to Left Bank Bordeaux (…) It’s a testament to Chile’s ability to craft nuanced, complex Cabernets.”

Wine Enthusiast distinguished Casa Real with 95 points and the distinction of Editor’s Choice. Finally, Descorchados 2025 awarded it 98 points, calling it one of the finest expressions of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon.
