September 2021.- The academy “World’s Best Vineyards”, created by William Reed of the International Wine Challenge, recently revealed the best 100 vineyards in the world for oenotourism. The list selected 11 wineries from Chile, positioning Santa Rita as the best winery in the Maipo Valley and Metropolitan Region, ranking in the 28th general position.
This ranking aims to highlight the great diversity of established and emergent oenotouristic destinations in the world. The list was compiled by nominations from an academy of voters, which considered around 600 experts in travel and wine from the entire globe.
“…the Santa Rita winery is set amongst 40 hectares of Renaissance-style gardens offering a colourful sanctuary just 45 minutes from the Chilean capital Santiago”, points out the publication, which also highlights the full offer of tours and tastings of the winery. This in addition to the Hotel Casa Real experience: “With so much to see and do, lodging at the Hotel Casa Real is rather a good idea, its 16 luxurious rooms and plush set of salons designed with every comfort in mind (…) a base from which to explore the plethora of cultural gems on offer”.
From Santa Rita the organisation expressed “We are delighted to have been selected as one of the World’s Best Vineyards to Visit, and to be positioned as the favourites in oenotourism in the Maipo Valley. This accolade, received in such an exceptional period as this, brings hope and optimism, reaffirming that we are indeed a great destination, driving us to continue building on our credentials and top quality service”.
This award ads to the recognition given by TripAdvisor, which situated Santa Rita among the top 10% of the world’s most popular attractions, the maximum acknowledgement in terms of service, quality and customer satisfaction. “It undoubtedly reinforces our cultural and heritage differentiator, together with a unique natural setting, exceptional gastronomy and the quality and consistency of our wines, all which aim to deliver a memorable experience”, the winery comments.
Santa Rita has a unique touristic offer centred around its assets, as the Doña Paula House, which today hosts the Restaurant bearing the same name, paying homage to Paula Jaraquemada, who gave shelter in this same place to 120 patriots that fought for Chile’s Independence, more tan 200 years ago. The historical cellars of Santa Rita built in Cal y Canto in the 19th century; the current Hotel Casa Real, manor house built in 1880 and summer residence of the winery’s founder; a centennial park of 40 hectares; a neo gothic chapel and the Museo Andino of the Claro Vial Foundation, which exhibits more than 3,000 archaeological and ethnographical pieces of the pre-Columbian peoples than inhabited Chile.
